FAITH THAT MOVES MOUNTAINS
When we talk about faith that moves mountains:
– we directly see this word: “And the Lord said, If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this sycamore, Uproot yourself, and plant yourself in the sea; and he would obey you” (Luke 17:6).
– we can imagine that faith that allows the mountains that stand before us to be chased away from our lives;
– we imagine the situations in which the answer to difficult situations is obtained;
– we see solutions being found in cascade in the face of the situations we are going through.
The mountains are the difficult situations we encounter.
“5The apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith. 6And the Lord said, If ye had faith like a mustard seed, ye would say unto this sycamore, Uproot thyself, and plant thyself in the sea; and he would obey you. 7Which of you, having a servant who plows or feeds the flocks, will say to him when he returns from the field, Come quickly, and sit down to eat? 8Will he not say to him instead, Prepare me a supper, gird yourself, and serve me, until I have eaten and drunk; after that, will you eat and drink? 9Does he owe this servant thanks because he did what he was commanded? 10You likewise, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, We are useless servants, we have done what we had to do. (Luke 17:5-10).
Reading this passage, we can ask ourselves if there is a connection with the situation of the centurion (Matthew 8:8-9), who recognized in Jesus a person with authority over situations that were not only physical or human?
The centurion knew that Jesus had authority over the spiritual power capable of healing his servant. For the centurion said to Jesus, “For I, who am subject to superiors, have soldiers under me; and I say to one: Go! and he goes; to another: Come! and he comes; and to my servant: Do this! and he does. (Matthew 8:9).
Faith is receiving some level of authority from the Lord. Faith is listed among the spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:9). The apostles understood that they can obtain faith only from the Lord.
The Lord Jesus shows that it is our level of faith that disposes us to be used by the Lord. We have the faith to do what the Lord wants and not our own desires. Faith is a gift that gives us a level of authority. It is dependent on our humility, on our ability to bend to the will of the Lord. If we want our faith to increase, we must first know that it comes from God. It is God who gives us this authority. Faith is an authority over situations that are not visible.
We can only work miracles if God gives us authority over the things we pray for. If we exercise a faith that we have received, it certainly works.
The key to faith is humility. God is jealous, He does not share His glory (Isaiah 42:8). When a servant, who after having worked, returns to his master, he must consider that he has done what he had to do, that he does not expect to be praised by his master. Likewise, we, when we have obtained miracles by our faith, must have more humility. Faith can be increased and the apostles saw that they could not do it themselves. It is God who has given us the level of faith that we have. We cannot increase our faith, like a psychic exercise that would lead us to be positive and thus see our faith increase.
To see things happen, you must have received authority from God. We can try to cast out demons from morning until evening, and without results, like the sons of Sceva (Acts 19: 13-14), because we will not have received any authority.
We must humble ourselves before the Lord, to receive from Him the spiritual authority called faith. Faith is a spiritual authority manifested by the fact that the things we hope for we can glimpse: “So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). Indeed, God establishes us in faith through His word.
– Let us pray to the Lord, so that He forgives us of every ounce of pride that has prevented us from obeying Him, for it is written: “The fear of the Lord teaches wisdom, And humility precedes glory” (Proverbs 15:33), in the name of Jesus Christ.
Faith is the authority that God unleashes in us over spiritual things. He increases the faith in us so that we can serve Him more.
-Let us pray to the Lord, to declare to Him our availability to serve Him, in the name of Jesus Christ.
The Lord tells us: “You likewise, when you have done all that you were commanded, say: We are useless servants, we have done what we had to do” (Luke 17:5-10).
This is Jesus’ response to people who ask Him to increase their faith. How often do we feel so important when the Lord uses us! We must know that we are useless servants. It must be anchored within us. Because it is under the authority of Jesus that we are led to exercise.
-Let us pray to the Lord, that having finished doing what God has commanded us, we may declare that we are useless servants, in the name of Jesus Christ.
-Let us pray to the Lord, that He alone will draw glory from our life and that He will pour more faith in us to use us more, and thus that our faith will be further strengthened, in the name of Jesus Christ.
